It’s a very interesting week in fantasy this week. Between bye weeks and injuries, there isn’t the usual variety of elite options at wide receiver. That’s especially true in the main DFS slate where the number 2 priced option, Ja’marr Chase, seems likely to be limited at best. We’ve got some alternative options for you that can step and in not eat a huge chunk of your budget.
This week the Sunday Redzone competitions covers both the 1pm and 4pm kick-offs and entries start from £2. There is the standard 9-man line-up to fill consisting of 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex and 1 D/ST with full PPR scoring and no yardage bonuses. The budget has been dropped slightly to 122M, so 13.5M per player on average.
Quarterbacks
- Geno Smith (16.8M) – After last week’s disaster against Baltimore, Geno Smith probably isn’t top of your list at QB. But he does get a nice match-up at home to the Commanders this weekend. The Commanders have given up the 3rd most points to opposing QBs this season and allowed 20+ points in 6 of 9. The three to fail to hit 20 points – Joshua Dobbs in week one, Desmond Ridder and Mac Jones. Not exactly a tough bunch to keep in check. This is the perfect spot for Geno to bounce back and at his price point there’s no better options!
Running Backs
- Aaron Jones (11.1M) – For the first time this season, the volume was there for Aaron Jones. He handled 20 carries and 6 targets on his way to 99 total yards and a touchdown. This week Jones gets a great match-up against the Steelers who are giving up over 140 yards per game to opposing Running Backs. Jones is listed as questionable, but he was last week as well. Expect him to see plenty of volume again as the Packers look to take the pressure off of Jordan Love.
- Tyler Allgeier (8.8M) – Despite spending a ton of draft capital on Bijan Robinson, Arthur Smith is determined to keep playing Tyler Allgeier in a pretty even split. Aligeier has had 13+ touches in 4 of the last 5 weeks. In fact Smith is even giving him essentially all the red-zone work. This week the Falcons face the Arizona Cardinals who are averaging a rushing touchdown per game to opposing backs. Allgeier probably won’t rush for a ton of yards, but a TD is a real possibility this week.
Wide Receivers
- Tank Dell (11.1M) – It was fireworks around in the Texans offence last week and Tank Dell was no exception. The rookie topped 100 yards and scored two TDs in the Texans come from behind victory. This week the Texans have another potential shoot-out against the Bengals. They will have to do it without Nico Collins who is out with a calf injury. Dell will step up into the lead receiver role and should be in for plenty of volume this week.
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba (10.7M) – It’s been a slow start to his rookie season for Jaxon Smith-Njigba. However, he’s started to establish a role in the Seahawks offence in recent weeks. He’s managed at least 12 fantasy points via 60 yards or a TD in each of the last three games. Against the Commanders there should be plenty of opportunities on offer for the Seahawks receiving core against a defence surrounding 189 yards a game to wide receivers.
Tight Ends
- Juwan Johnson (6.4M) – Juwan Johnson is back in the Saints offence and seems to have a solid role going forward. He isn’t a yardage monster, but he does have an important role for the team in the redzone. The Saints face the Vikings this week who just gave up 28 points to the Falcons including a huge game to Jonnu Smith. Johnson is a bit of a TD gamble, but he comes very cheap this weekend and has a much better chance than anyone else around his price!
Defence/Special Teams
The Jacksonville Jaguars (7.1M) probably won’t be a popular choice against the San Francisco 49ers. But they are at home and the 49ers have been off their game over the last few weeks. The Jaguars are also a hugely opportunistic defences, they’ve averaged over 2 takeaways a game this season. On top of that they also average 2 sacks a game. If the 49ers offensive struggle continue, the Jags could put up another solid fantasy score.
