It’s been a busy World Cup break for me with a number of players coming in to the gallery and being quickly moved on. In my last update I mentioned I felt I was holding players too long and I’ve tried to take that lesson to heart by moving players on for modest profits when the opportunity presents itself. After we cover the state of the gallery, I will briefly touch on the recent Threshold announcements and how that will affect my strategy going forward.
Progress at a Glance
| Starting Capital | 0.0132 ETH |

| Overall Progress | 0.0176 ETH (+41%) |
The Quick Flips
Miramon (Midfielder, CD Leganes) – First off was Miramon, who stayed in the gallery for just less than 24 hours. Miramon had a solid run of form before I picked him up and looked like a solid option for the first Matchday 2 of the Global Cup. I got rid of him quickly before the Matchday started, but if I’d waited a few more days I could have gotten double the return. Miramon came in for 0.0020ETH and left for 0.0025ETH making a quick 0.0005 ETH (25%).

Raul Navas (Midfielder, CD Mirandes) – Raul Navas lasted slightly longer in the gallery at just over 24 hours. Like Miramon, he also had some promising match-ups at the start of the Global Cup and I took the quick profit when it presented itself. Navas took advantage of the good match-ups hitting an 85 and 60 in the first two match days. Again if I’d held a few more days I would roughly double my return. Overall, Navas came in for 0.0020ETH and left for 0.0025ETH for another return of 0.0005 ETH (25%).

Valentin Vada (Midfielder, Real Zaragoza) – Vada was a third La Liga 2 midfielder I liked to have some good matchdays over the Global Cup. He stayed in my gallery for a lot longer than the first two, almost a month, but after a 72 point performance against Ibiza I managed to move him on for a modest profit. In the case, I did the best I could selling for the highest price since I bought Vada. He was purchased for 0.0028 ETH and sold for 0.0032 ETH, a modest return of 0.0004 ETH (14%).

Other Outgoings

JM Montoro (Midfielder, Real Oviedo) – JM Montoro had a couple of solid results in the gallery, but with Real Oviedo being pretty low scoring he isn’t a consistent option. Since I moved him on just before the World Cup started, he has dropped out of the squad entirely for the last 5 games with an injury. I sold Montoro for 0.0013ETH, a profit of 0.0003 ETH (30%).
Luismi Sanchez (Midfielder, Real Oviedo) – Sanchez is the second of my Oviedo group to leave the gallery. Like some of the flips above, his price spiked further in the last couple of weeks. I got rid of Sanchez for 0.0030ETH, earning another modest profit of 0.0005ETH (20%).
Sergi Enrich (Forward, Real Oviedo) – The third of the Real Oviedo guys to leave the gallery was my only forward. Enrich is a decisive dependant option, who does rotate occasionally fro Oviedo. Again, Enrich did have a price spike a couple of weeks after I sold him but is make to around where I sold now. I sold Enrich for 0.0026ETH for a profit of 0.0006ETH (30%).
Incomings

Pablo Valcarce (Midfielder, Burgos – 0.0015 ETH) – I brought Pablo Valcarce in after he had started 4 of his previous 5 games with one DNP. I was expecting him to continue to start for Burgos who had some nice match-ups on paper. He has only played from the bench in 4 of 5 since, again with one DNP. So the quick-flip didn’t present itself here, I’ll look to hold until he gets another run in the first team.
Alvaro Jimenez (Midfielder, UD Las Palmas – 0.0015 ETH) – Jimenez was another purchase targeting some nice looking match-ups over the World Cup period. Jimenez has been rotated since then and didn’t take advantage of the start he did get. Again, I will look to hold until he does get a little run in the first team.

Tony Watt (Forward, Dundee United – 0.0014 ETH) – Tony Watt is the first of my preparation for the post World Cup game-weeks. The Scottish Premiership returns on the World Cup final weekend and is one of the only leagues that plays before January. Dundee have had a bad season so far, but Watt is a great budget option at forward who has potential to score when he does play.
Andrew Considine (Defender, St Johnstone – 0.0007 ETH) – Considine is a steal at this price, and just sneaks into Underdog with an L15 of 49. He has the potential to put up big scores without a decisive including two 60+ and a 70+ this season with no decisive plus and 84 and 71 with decisives.
Aziz Behich (Defender, Dundee United – 0.0020 ETH) – Dundee United might be having a poor season, but new arrival Behich has performed well. He might not get many clean sheet points, but operating as wing-back he has decisive potential and a decent all-around game. He has had 5 decisives for Dundee so far this season and should be a solid option in Underdog.
SO5 Performances
There’s not been too much to write home about on the SO5 front. I had one Underdog entry in Matchday One, but after I sold Sergi Enrich I haven’t had a forward or goalkeeper to let me field an Underdog line-up.

There’s not been much price movement on the majority of the longer term holds in the gallery. As I mentioned in the previous update, I will look to hold them all until their leagues return and see if we can re-coup some of the losses then. They may also be of some use as part of gallery to compete for threshold rewards.
Rodri Tarin is the one longer-term option to have a significant price move, unfortunately it is downwards with him now having lost 83% of his value. This has come from him having spent 5 games as an unused substitute. There is a little bit of hope though as he returned to the starting line-up on Sunday in a 1-0 away loss to Eibar and put up a solid 51 point score.
Overall, I did manage to make some returns over the last few weeks like I planned, but the two I haven’t sold yet have eaten up the majority of the profits at this point. I’m not selling those two yet, so hopefully they can turn into longer term holds that will earn a decent return.
I also definitely underestimated how prices would move in the lead up to match days for the La Liga 2 players. I thought there would be some small rises and sold accordingly. In reality, some players doubled in price leading into match days and I left some profit on the table as a result. I guess this is because it was just about the only league running. Definitely something to keep in mind if similar situations occur, although I guess it won’t be often.
The three new Scottish Premiership players have all increased in value leading up to the league returning before Christmas. I’m in two minds whether to try and take the quick returns again on Tony Watt and Aziz Behich or look to use them to help build a gallery to compete for thresholds. I will hold them over the next couple of days for sure and see if we get a further price spike before line-ups lock on Saturday.
Moving Forwards
Last week Sorare announced changes to the Threshold rewards starting in March. Thresholds will be spread to all rarities (at different ETH values), but the lower threshold of 205 points will be removed. Additionally, the competitions will have a budget cap of 240 points (based on L15 scores), with 250 points needed to earn the threshold with no XP or captain bonuses.
For me, this likely means I will be moving out of my Rare cards I am currently using for thresholds with a DNP goalkeeper. I don’t have enough ETH to add a starting goalkeeper, and I can’t afford to add elite outfielder either. So for me it will be almost impossible to hit 250 points without a captain bonus.
At the moment I am planning to play my Rare team until the changes go into effect and then move down to limited where I will be able to afford a Goalkeeper to make a team with a fair chance of hitting thresholds. I am now looking to spend the ETH balance I have from threshold rewards on limited cards to build a competitive gallery.
For this article series it likely means I will focus on trading on a card by card basis and not on the overall gallery value. I will be writing a further post over the next few days with some more in depth thoughts on the new Thresholds and how I am changing my gallery.
