NFL DFS Week 5 Recap

This week we entered two line-ups into the Bet365 Sunday Redzone competition, including a gamble on a low cost Saints stack. Let’s check out how they performed.

Line-up 1 – The Commanders Stack

This line-up was a disappointment almost across the board. Derrick Henry was the one bright spot as he ran rampant on the Commanders.

Wentz was solid enough, but his big plays went to Dyami Brown (105yd, 2TDs) rather than to Terry McLaurin. It seems the big play potential just isn’t there for Scary Terry. On the other side of the game Gerald Everett had his worst game of the season with only one 2 yard catch to his name.

Christian Kirk was another one catch wonder, managing just 11 yards.

Robert Woods did lead the Titans in targets as we expected. However, he could only convert 8 targets into 3 catches for 37 yards. Mike Evans was close to a solid day, having been tackled at the 1 yard line on a catch and run.

Despite a poor start to the season, the Texans defense came up big against James Robinson and the Jaguars. In what appeared to be a smash spot, Robinson managed just 27 yards on 10 carries.

The Buccaneers defense held the Falcons to 15 points, but didn’t manage to force any turnovers from Marcus Mariota and company.

A total of 96.66 was only good enough for 1626th, with 301 places paid.

Line-up 2 – The Saints Stack

The Saints stack itself didn’t perform very well, with Taysom Hill stealing the show in Week 5. However, going for a cheap stack did get us some high scoring players across the rest of the line-up.

On the other side of the match-up, Will Dissly couldn’t manage a TD to save his day.

Stefon Diggs and Justin Jefferson both lived up to their price tags going for big scores each. Chris Olave was also solid, despite leaving the game in the third quarter with a concussion.

At running back, Rhamondre Stevenson capitalised on a Damien Harris hamstring injury to shred the Lions for 175 scrimmage yards. All that was missing was a TD to put the bow on an excellent performance. As mentioned above, James Robinson disappointed in a solid match-up.

As predicted Kenny Pickett struggled against the Bills defense in his first career start, managing only 3 points overall. Diontae Johnson did hoover up volume as expected, but could only turn 13 targets into 60 scoreless yards.

This line-up was a bit more successful, finishing in 793rd place with 134.30 points – 22.06 points away from the money in a very high scoring game week!

Final Thoughts

Results-wise it was another disappointing week. There was some positives, including Rhamondre Stevenson and the Bills defense. But the performance at tight end in both line-ups was a major disappointment – perhaps the correct play is to spend bigger a tight-end rather than risk the lottery at the lower prices.
