The first half of season 6 has flown in on MFL. I’ve been managing two sides for the first time and it’s been a great fun. In this article we’ll look at how both the Motherwell Eagles and Tabasco Fire have performed so far as well as how the players have been progressing. We’ll end with a look at our prospects for the rest of the season.

Results on the Pitch
Motherwell Eagles
The League couldn’t have realistically gone any better for the Motherwell Eagles. We were predicted to finish 8th according to the MFLManager.FR predictions and as it stands we sit in 6th, level on points with the Titan Colts in 5th. Obviously, the table is really close – one loss could see us drop as far as 9th – so there is still a long way to go before we can celebrate a successful league campaign.

The IMFF Cup got off to a rocky start, as we drew one and lost one in our first two games. However, we strung together three wins on the bounce to secure qualification for the knockout stages with a game to spare. I rotated a decent amount for the final game of the group and we ended with a loss to confirm 2nd place in the group.
Tabasco Fire
I went into the season with Tabasco expecting a long season in the league and in the end I’ve been pleasantly surprised with our results. When I’ve been playing our strongest XI we’ve managed to keep games close and even steal a few draws against stronger opposition. In fact we’re the only side to take a point from top of the table, Quantum Pimps.

Despite all that we’re in 11th place, 4 points adrift of the three teams tied on 11 points above us. Limoges in particular have done really well to lose only 4 games despite have a best XI on par with ours. It’ll be a tough ask to overturn that deficit over the back half of the season and meet the pre-season target of 10th place.
The IMFF Cup started off with a draw and a loss, just like it did for the Motherwell Eagles. Once again, Tabasco managed three win on the bounce to secure qualification with a game to spare. Again, I took the chance to rotate for the final game of the season to make sure I hit the playing time requirements for our loaned players – like Motherwell it ended with a loss and 2nd place in the group.
Progression
Motherwell Eagles

It’s been a really positive start to the season progression wise. There has been 8 points of overall increases including +2 on both starting centre backs. Within those increases was a tier break of 30 year old Monday Ogbu and Karlheinz Stangl is now closing in on his own tier break to uncommon. On top of that there are 8 players that have stat increases, but no overall increases yet.
Tabasco Fire

It’s a pretty similar story for Tabasco with 9 overall increases so far this season, unfortunately only 4 have been for players I own. The highlight among my players has been Rex Brennan tier breaking up to a limited player. There are a further 7 players who have had stat increases, including 4 of my own players.
Both teams are running slightly behind the pace to match last season’s 19 overall increases for the Motherwell Eagles. With the match experience dropping off as the season goes on, I don’t think either side will catch up by the end of the season.
Rest of the Season
I don’t think I’ll be making any additions inn the mid-season transfer window. It might be worth considering to try and push for a big cup run, but I’m not sure I want to disrupt either squad. I want to continue maximising the progression for my players in each squad. For Tabasco, it’s not that easy to disrupt regardless with the game requirements on the loan players.
For Motherwell, I’m hoping we can keep up the great results we’ve shown over the first half of the season. We’ve done really well to be in 6th position at the halfway mark and ending the season there would earn us a nice little bit of extra MFL. Having said, I will also be continuing to prioritise the IMFF Cup for as long as we’re in it for.
At Tabasco, the focus will be on the IMFF Cup games, I’d love to get a win or two to make up for the lower MFL from likely finishing in 11th. I’ll also be continuing to manage the playing time requirements for our loaned in players. I’m mostly well on track, but I need to be careful with Baba Yatte who still needs to play 8 of his 20 games. We have 12 confirmed games left, so it shouldn’t be an issue, but I just need to be careful that I can rest him for the right games so he’s fit for our winnable games.
