Tight Ends Streamers – 2023 Week Seventeen

Week 17 looms large for most leagues as the fantasy finals take place. For the New Years’ weekend the schedule remains a little off as we have Monday Night Football taking place on Saturday evening this week. On the tight-end front it’s actually a pretty decent weekend for streaming the position. So, let dig into the options for any still with something to play for this weekend.

All of the options discussed in the article are rostered in less than 50% of Yahoo fantasy leagues. These suggestions are aimed at players in 10-12 team leagues. In shallower leagues there may be better available. In deeper leagues there’s a good chance some of these players will not be available for you.

Going into the season, we hoped that with Kellen Moore taking over as OC there would be a strong role for the tight-end position. It’s been pretty up and down all season, not helped by the workload being split between Donald Parham and Gerald Everett. The leading role has been taken by Gerald Everett in recent weeks and looks to have a pretty reliable floor. Everett has had 8 targets in each of the last 3 games. It hasn’t turned into huge yardage as he’s managed between 39 and 42 yards over that span.

The Chargers play the Denver Broncos this weekend who are among the most generous in the league to opposing tight ends. The Broncos allow over 16 PPR points per game to the position. With Keenan Allen yet to practice with a heel injury, it looks like Everett’s role in the offence should be pretty secure. There is no option easily available with the kind of volume Everett has been getting.

Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans

With Ryan Tannehill back in at QB, Chigoziem Okonkwo led the Titans in both targets and catches on Sunday. He even managed his first TD of the season, although that was from Derrick Henry on a trick play. Will Levis should be back under centre on Sunday, who Okonkwo has had some decent chemistry with over the last month or so. He might not lead the team in targets again, but he should continue to score well for the rest of the year.

This weekend the Titans face the Texans in Houston. They give up 6 catches and 59 yards a game to the position. They are also pretty stout in the run game, giving up under 70 yards to opposing running backs. So, it could slow going for Derrick Henry on the ground freeing up more opportunities in the passing game. It feels like there’s still some uncertainty with Okonkwo but you’ll struggle to find a better option in most leagues.

Other Options

The best of the rest is Tucker Kraft (19%). The Green Bay rookie looks to be a key part of the Packers’ offence.

The safety blanket role is still there for Tyler Conklin’s (16%) but there’s no upside there.

Cade Otton (32%) catch numbers are very up and down, but he does have a good match-up against the Saints.

Jonnu Smith’s (14%) usage has been a lot spottier than early in the season. But he has also has a strong match-up against the Bears.

The match-up is pretty middling for Logan Thomas (39%), but he remains worth a look as a streaming option.
