After a full schedule over the Thanksgiving weekend, the bye weeks return in Week Thirteen. We have 6 teams on bye including a couple of solid streaming options in Baltimore and Las Vegas. Of the remaining teams it’s pretty thin on the ground for reliable streaming options. We have managed to pick out a couple of solid options and a third that has a bit more risk but has shown some upside this year.
All of the options discussed in the article are rostered in less than 50% of Yahoo fantasy leagues. These suggestions are aimed at players in 10-12 team leagues. In shallower leagues there may be better available. In deeper leagues there’s a good chance some of these players will not be available for you.
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers
Rostered in 48 % of Yahoo Leagues
Pat Freiermuth’s return from IR in week 11 was unspectacular to say the least. He caught his only target for 7 yards. During the week Steelers changed Offensive Co-ordinator, and Eddie Faulkner seems to have a big role for Freiermuth. On Sunday Freiermuth was targeted a whopping 11 times against the Bengals. It paid off big time as he caught 9 passes for 120 yds, but sadly no TD.
The Steelers host Arizona this week, not great match-up on paper. But, Freiermuth is clearly healthy and looks to be a key part of the Steelers offence going forward. Another 11 targets might be a stretch, but even with half that he has the potential for a solid score. In a week short of options, Freiermuth is one of the best streaming options available.
Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints
Rostered in 9 % of Yahoo Leagues
Up next, another TE who has spent time on injured reserve this season. Juwan Johnson hasn’t been the most explosive this year, before Sundays game against the Falcons he hadn’t topped the 40 yard mark all season. But as injuries mount for the Saints receivers his opportunities are growing. Michael Thomas is on IR while Chris Olave (concussion) and Rashid Shaheed (quad) both left Sundays game. It resulted in 7 targets for Johnson and 45 scoreless yards.
It’s a solid match-up for Johnson against the Lions this Sunday. It’s highly unlikely Olave will clear concussion protocol before then. Whilst it remains to be seen how bad Shaheed’s injury is, with at least Olave and Thomas out, the increased targets should be there for Johnson again. It’s unlikely the yardage is going to jump massively, but hopefully he can find the end-zone for the second time this year.
Hunter Henry, New England Patriots
Rostered in 29 % of Yahoo Leagues
With the Patriots struggling, Mac Jones was benched for the third this season on Sunday afternoon. Whilst Bailey Zappe led a solid drive to open the second half, he didn’t provide much more of a spark. For Hunter Henry, the offensive turmoil resulted in a catchless day, although it was in a tough match-up against the Giants. Over the season though, Henry has been the most reliable tight end for the Patriots and has topped 5 targets in 6 games this season.
The offence may be poor, but at least the match-up is excellent this week against the Chargers. The Chargers are averaging over 60 yards a game to the position, but haven’t allowed too many TDs this year. We don’t know who is going to be throwing the ball this week and it’s hard to trust the Patriots offence regardless. But we’re short of viable options this week, and Henry has had some good fantasy scores this season.
Other Options
Tyler Higbee (39%) had a surprise big week against the Cardinals. But with everyone healthy, it’s likely an aberration rather than a sign of things to come.
Tucker Kraft (1%) is the starting TE for Green Bay with Luke Musgrave on IR. The match-up isn’t great against the Chiefs, but he should see opportunities.
Tyler Conklin’s (16%) role as a safety blanket remains. But there isn’t a lot of upside in the Jets offence.
Gerald Everett (21%) returned for the Chargers and caught four passes for 43 yards and TD against the Ravens. He gets another tough assignment against the Patriots this week. He’s still a TD dependant dart throw with Donald Parham Jr (5%) also a factor.
