DFS Value Plays – Bet365 NFL Sunday Redzone Week 9

There wasn’t a huge amount of fantasy-relevant business at Tuesday’s trade deadline. But we will have new starting quarterbacks in Minnesota and Arizona this weekend. Week 9 also see’s the return of the International Series in the NFL as the Chiefs and Dolphins face off in Frankfurt. For us the main DFS slate it means we’re down to 10 games with 4 teams also on bye this week.

This week the Sunday Redzone competitions covers both the 1pm and 4pm kick-offs and entries start from £2. There is the standard 9-man line-up to fill consisting of 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex and 1 D/ST with full PPR scoring and no yardage bonuses. The budget has been dropped slightly to 117M, so 13M per player on average.

Quarterbacks

  • Derek Carr (16.8M) – Derek Carr might not have had the fantasy performances this season but it’s not for lack of trying. Carr has been the most aggressive downfield passers in the league. This week the Saints host the Chicago Bears who have given up big plays at just about every opportunity this year. Carr has thrown 300+ yards in each of his last three games, I like him to do it again this week and potentially add multiple TDs as well.

Running Backs

  • Chuba Hubbard (8.7M) – With Miles Sanders banged up Chuba Hubbard looks to have established himself as the lead back in the Panthers offence. It’s not necessarily an offence you’d expect big things from, but, the play one of the league biggest run funnels this week. The Colts give up over 30 rushing attempts per game so there’s potential for some big volume for Hubbard this week.
  • Kareem Hunt (10.4M) – There’s not a huge amount of volume for Hunt in the Browns triple headed backfield. However, he does seem to be the lead back in the red-zone. Hunt takes three quarters of the running back opportunities in the red zone and has converted them into 4 touchdowns in the last 3 weeks. This weeks opponents, the Cardinals, give up an average of 1.5 TDs per game to running-backs.

Wide Receivers

  • Demario Douglas (8.5M) – The Patriots offence hasn’t been very good this season and is now down two of their top WRs in Kendrick Bourne and Devante Parker. That all means Demario Douglas is top of the depth chart for a home game against the Commanders. The Commanders have been one of the most giving defences to opposing wide receivers and just traded away their top 2 pass rushers. If Mac Jones can get anything going this week, it should go through Douglas.
  • Michael Gallup (8.3M) – Michael Gallup looks to be the secondary option after CeeDee Lamb in the Cowboys wide receiver room. Before last weeks three target game against the Rams, Gallup was on a four game streak of 5+ targets. Facing the Eagles this week, the Cowboys will likely need to throw a lot to keep up. There’s plenty of options in the Cowboys pass attack, but I like Gallup’s target numbers to rebound this week.

Tight Ends

  • Trey McBride (9.6M) – Trey McBride has quickly established himself as the top option in the Cardinals pass attack after Zach Ertz’s injury. This week things may get even better as Kyler Murray has a genuine chance to return from his ACL injury this week. If he does, McBride would have elite upside, but even without he should see enough targets to provide a reasonable return on his cost.

Defence/Special Teams

The Atlanta Falcons (8.1M) have a chance for a rare strong week on defence. They host the Minnesota Vikings who will be starting a 5th round rookie QB in Jaren Hall. The Vikings did trade for Joshua Dobbs now Kirk Cousins is done for the year. However, Kevin O’Connell has confirmed Dobbs will be active only as the back-up this weekend. The Falcons haven’t been a great fantasy defence this season, but they have topped 10 points twice. Facing an unproven rookie, this is the best chance they’ll get all season to hit that mark a third time.
