Week 5 brings the start of the bye weeks in the NFL. That, alongside another London game, brings the number of games in the Sunday Redzone competition down to 10. It does seem like there is a bit less value at the bottom end for RB and WRs this week. But I have managed to find some solid value in the middle of the range that are worth considering it. So it may be a week to target more of the mid-end plays than a mix of cheap and expensive.
This week the Sunday Redzone competitions covers both the 1pm and 4pm kick-offs and entries start from £2. There is the standard 9-man line-up to fill consisting of 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex and 1 D/ST with full PPR scoring and no yardage bonuses. The budget has been bumped up slightly to 117M, so 13M per player on average.
Quarterbacks
- Zach Wilson (15.2M) – Before you close the page, hear me out… Zach Wilson looked much improved last week in the Jets shock victory over Kansas City. In fact, he actually looked like a competent NFL quarterback. This week the Jets face a Broncos defence that has been shredded every week this season. If Wilson’s improvements weren’t a one week mirage, he should have no issues putting up a solid score at one of the cheapest QBs on the slate.
Running Backs
- Breece Hall (10.3M) – We’re continuing the target the Broncos plan with Breece Hall. After an explosive week one, Hall has been pretty anonymous since. But Head Coach Robert Salah has announced Hall will be off a snap count for the first time since tearing his ACL last season. Facing a Bronco’s team that gave up monster games against Miami and Chicago the last two week it’s a perfect spot for Hall to show he’s back to full health.
- Jaleel McLaughlin (6.8M) – On the other side of the Jets-Broncos game, McLaughlin jumps out as a value play. After starter Javonte Williams left injured last week it was McLaughlin who led the backfield and topped the 100 yard mark against the Bears. If Williams is out this week, McLaughlin will be a great value option despite a tricky match-up against the Jets. If Williams is healthy, stay away!
Wide Receivers
- Zay Flowers (11.3M) – Rookie Zay Flowers has immediately established himself as the lead Wide Receiver for the Ravens. He does have TE Mark Andrews for target competition, but Flowers has earned a solid 22.9% target share when both have been active. This week the Ravens face the Steelers, a game that has often been a defensive affair in the past. However, the Steelers pass defence has been shocking so far this season, particularly at defending wide receivers. Given his solid target share and plus-matchup getting Flowers at this price seems a good value.
- Jaylen Waddle (10.8M) – It’s been a disappointing season for Jaylen Waddle so far. Despite Miami being one of the most explosive teams in the NFL, Waddle has yet to score a touchdown or top 90 yards in a game this season. This week the Dolphins face a floundering Giants side, that is there to be exploited. Despite the lack of production so far, Waddle is still a great talent and with Tyreek Hill on the other side of the field there’s weaker coverage to exploit.
Tight Ends
- Zach Ertz (7.6M) – You’re not likely to see any flashy big plays from Zach Ertz, but he makes up for it with pure volume. So far this season he’s had 8+ targets in 3 of 4 games – perfect for the PPR scoring format on Bet365. There’s not been a touchdown for Ertz yet, but if the target numbers stay high he’ll hit a TD at some point. This week he =gets the benefits of playing a Bengals team that has been among the most generous to the position. He’s a good few million cheaper than the top options and definitely has a chance of scoring amongst them come Sunday evening.
Defence/Special Teams
Finally, the Arizona Cardinals (5.8M) have some potential at bottom of the barrel cost for a defence. The Cardinals face a struggling Bengals side who look like they’ll be without Tee Higgins this weekend. The Cardinals defence has been a lot better than expected so far, they’ve created 5 turnovers and held opposition under 20 points in 2 of 4 games. Joe Burrow is slowly getting healthy, but he’s still clearly unable to move outside the pocket. With no threat to run, the Cardinals can pin their ears back and get after Burrow. The opportunities are there for the Cardinals to have a solid fantasy day this week if they can take advantage!
