Before we get into the final games, I’d like to take a minute to thank all of you who have read these articles over the last few months. I’ve really enjoyed writing them and hopefully it’s helped some of you earn some prizes. It’s certainly helped me to focus on the strengths and weaknesses of the cards in my gallery!
I’m going to keep writing these articles next season, but over the summer, there won’t be as regular Sorare content from me. There will still be plenty of spur of the moment thoughts on Twitter @ThinkingFantasy. I will look to write some stuff on the Premiership over the break – most likely some transfer round ups – and also take the time to make the site a little less basic.
The final games of the Scottish Premiership season are upon us with the games split across Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday lunchtime the top 6 play their final games. The only thing left to be decided is who will finished 4th, Hearts or Hibs, as the two sides face off in the final Edinburgh derby of the season.
On Sunday, the more meaningful games take place as the teams in the bottom half have the last opportunity to avoid relegation. No team is mathematically relegated at this point, but the real interest is in who will finish 10th and avoid the relegation playoff!
In the interest of openness, I do own cards some of the players I’m recommending (you can check out my gallery here) and will mark them with an asterisk (*). But, I’ll also try and include some players I don’t have. I’m certainly not Nostradamus, as evidenced by my Cap 240 results to date, so I recommend you do your own research when picking up players.

The Games

Celtic-Aberdeen There’s nothing to play for between Celtic and Aberdeen and given Celtic went as far as to rest Joe Hart during the week who knows how the sides will look. If you are going to take a player from this game, I’d look for someone who is usually a back-up with a low L15.
Hearts-Hibernian Hearts have extra motivation in the Edinburgh derby this week after losing 1-0 to Hibs at home last month. They probably don’t need it knowing that avoiding a loss will see them finish above their rivals in 4th place. Hibs managed a shock victory over a heavily-rotated Celtic side on Wednesday to keep within two points of Hearts. Given the result of the last derby, it’s hard to be confident of anything in this one but I’d give the edge to Hearts.
St Mirren-Rangers Another meaningless game as St Mirren and Rangers are locked into 6th and 2nd place respectively. Rangers continued to play a pretty strong side in midweek and I guess they may do so again in this one. If so, a Rangers win is most likely but this could go either way if Michael Beale does give some youngsters a chance in the season finale.
Kilmarnock-Ross County The game of the weekend sees 10th host 11th with a guaranteed place in the Premiership next season up for grabs. Kilmarnock know a draw will guarantee them 10th, while any win will do for Ross County with their goal difference lead. It’s been heartbreak late in the last two games for Ross County as two injury time goals have cost them 5 points. I’m sure it will be a close fought game, but I’m backing Killie and their great home form to stay in the Premiership.
Motherwell-Dundee United Dundee United might not be mathematically relegated, but they sit 3 behind Ross County and 8 behind them in goal difference. Given they’ve lost all four of their games since the split, they look nailed on to lose again and finish rock bottom. Motherwell have continued to play hard since clinching safety, I expect they will take play a full strength side again and should ease to a final day victory.
St Johnstone-Livingston Two of the worst form sides of the calendar year face off in this dead rubber game. It’s a case of weakness against weakness in this one as St Johnstone have struggled at home whilst Livingston have been woeful on the road this season. I wouldn’t expect great viewing from this one, but I think St Johnstone have the edge in this one, especially with Shamal George suspended for Livingston.
Goalkeepers
Samuel Walker*, Kilmarnock – Kilmarnock is one of the teams with a lot still to play for, a win in this game will secure their place in the Premiership for a second season. Kilmarnock have been much better at home than away this season although in a winner takes all game against Ross County, form is sure to be less of a factor. Even if Ross County do get a goal, Walker has the ability to put up strong performances on AA alone and can comfortably outscore his 44 point cost.
Liam Kelly*, Motherwell – On the other hand Motherwell have nothing left to play for in the final game. That’s not to say they won’t want to end the season well in front of their home support. They face a Dundee United side that needs three points if they want to play Premiership football next season. Despite the motivation, Dundee have been pretty poor since the split and I think Motherwell have a good shot at earning a win and Kelly a clean sheet in this one. Liam Kelly doesn’t have much AA in his game, so he would need the clean sheet to provide value.
Other Thoughts: It’s not a good week for goalkeepers in the Premiership this week. I’d avoid Joe Hart* given he may not start as Celtic appear focused only on the Scottish Cup final. If you’re desperate Zander Clark isn’t too bad a shout, but a clean sheet is far from guaranteed in an Edinburgh derby.
Defenders
Andy Considine*, St Johnstone – Considine is a defender that can put up some monster scores on his day. He’s not the most predictable, but in a game St Johnstone should keep a clean sheet this is as good a spot as any. He comes in at a cost of 40 and should have a good shot at outscoring that to end the season.
Alexander Cochrane, Hearts – Cochrane has been in out of the starting line-up for Hearts in recent weeks. However, when he does start (and Hearts play well) he can put up some really strong scores. He comes in at a cost of 42 and is very capable of scoring 45+ with AA alone. He’s also gets forward a fair bit and can grab the odd assist to boost his score further. Against Hibs, I think he’ll play and Hearts should do much better than they did last month.
Other Thoughts: Lewis Mayo* should start in his last game for Killie and has been a solid performer at home all season. For Motherwell, any defender is worth considering, James Furlong would be my pick of the bunch. Alongside Cochrane, Hearts’ Nathaniel Atkinson* is worth playing.
Midfielders
Daniel Armstrong*, Kilmarnock – The final chance to take Danny Armstrong at home this season and one final appearance in this article. He’s had much stronger home than away performances all season and can easily outscore his 50 point cost at Rugby Park. This weeks opponents, Ross County, have a lot to play for but will give up opportunities for Armstrong to add goals and assists to his typically strong AA scores.
Calum Butcher, Motherwell – Calum Butcher has midfield cards on Sorare but has been playing in defence for Motherwell since arriving from Burton in January. After a rocky start, he’s put up some solid scores over the last couple of months. Over his past 7 games he’s underperformed his L15 cost of 44 in just one game. At home to Dundee United, I don’t see this being a game he scores under 44.
Other Thoughts: Drey Wright chips in with some goals for St Johnstone and should get some opportunities against Livingston. Peter Haring recent form is better than it looks at first glance. He had a red card three games ago that was overturned on appeal which is bringing his average down.
Forwards
Lawrence Shankland, Hearts – After a bit of a quiet spell, Lawrence Shankland has recorded decisives in 4 of the last 5 including a hat trick against Ross County’s. Despite Hearts losing 1-0 to Hibs the last time they played I think Hearts can get a goal in this one and Shankland would be the most likely scorer. To boost his chances, Hibs give up the second most penalties in the Premiership and Shankland takes pens for Hearts.
Steven May*, St Johnstone – We’re betting on how poor Livingston have been on the road in this one – they’ve conceded multiple goals in each of their last 5 away games. Steven May leads the line for St Johnstone, making him as good a bet as any to grab a goal. He can outscore his 46 L15 with AA alone, but it’s isn’t very often. Realistically, May will need to grab decisive to provide value this week.
Other Thoughts: Barrie McKay* has been a fantastic AA scorer since Steven Naismith took charge and should do well at home to Hibs. Christian Doidge is decisive dependant but worth considering for Killie. The same for Motherwell’s Mickael Mandron.
My Cap 240 Line-Up

The final line-up of the season with a heavy focus on players with something still to play for. Starting off with a triplet of Kilmarnock players. Samuel Walker starts in goal, like last week I’m not overly high on any goalkeeper but Walker’s ability to score really well when he concedes makes him a decent option.
Joining him is defender Lewis Mayo who should be able to get into the 50 point region if Killie do keep a clean sheet. Rounding off the Killie contingent is Danny Armstrong who is always a good bet for a strong score when playing at home!
Joining them is Hearts’ Barrie McKay who should get right around his L15 with AA and could put up a great score if he can grab a decisive. Finally, Anthony Ralston rounds out the line-up and offers some great potential in the Celtic defence as they host and Aberdeen side who also have nothing to play for in the final week of the season. He just needs to avoid the negative decisive he’s had in the last couple of games!
Gameweek #374 Recap

Barring some Opta shenanigans it’s looking like another threshold for me in Cap 240! Albeit with a very up and down performance this week.
There was mixed results from the Aberdeen duo in the line-up. Liam Scales ended his loan spell with a very solid 61.9 points without getting a decisive. However Bojan Miovski failed to get the decisive he needed despite Aberdeen putting three past St Mirren.
In goal, Samuel Walker scored an excellent 74.6 points as he kept a very rare clean sheet on the road. It wasn’t happy travels for Andy Considine as St Johnstone conceded 3 in a dramatic draw with Ross County.
The rotation proof Callum McGregor had a solid game for Celtic and grabbed an assist to take us over the 250 point mark. I was hoping for a bit more AA from him, but given Celtic conceded four I can’t complain too much with a positive AA!
