It’s been a few weeks since my last update and there have been some changes in the gallery, including a move to La Liga 2 players ready for the World Cup. Unfortunately, in terms of ETH it hasn’t been so good with most of the early gains having disappeared. From a profit of +90% in my last update, I’m back down to +15% now.

The Real Oviedo Stack

I selected Real Oviedo to build a budget stack to compete in Limited Underdog and hopefully turn some profit with as we head into the World Cup. Oviedo have got off to an awful start this season after being on the edge of the playoff places last season.
They have now swapped manager, and I think they have the potential to rebound over the next few weeks. The new manager brings the potential for a new manager bounce but also the risk that players won’t be in favour with the new boss. Hopefully, we’ll end up with more of the former than the latter!
Rodri Tarin (Defender, 0.0030 ETH) – Tarin has been a consistent starter for Oviedo so far this season. Early in the year he managed a couple of great scores hitting a 75 and a 95 in back-to-back games. There’s been a few solid performances since then, but his performances have dropped in line with Oviedo.
Luismi Sanchez (Midfielder, 0.0025 ETH) – Sanchez has been the starting in the centre of midfield since the end of September and putting up solid All-Around scores consistently. His last 15 score is keeping him just within Underdog eligibility. He’s one decisive away from a monster score!
JM Montoro (Midfielder, 0.0010 ETH) – Montoro is a creative midfielder who has played a lot as a number 10 under the old management. If Oviedo are to have an upturn in form, he has a decent chance of earning some goal involvements.
Sergi Enrich (Forward, 0.0020 ETH) – Enrich is a new signing at Oviedo having played at Ponferradina in La Liga 2 last season. He’s currently behind Borja Baston in the pecking order, but Baston was beyond my price range. Enrich did have some solid performance last season, with 7 decisive for his old club in his L40 scores. If he can get some opportunities, Enrich clearly has the pedigree to be a goalscorer in La Liga 2.
Funding The Stack
Alfonso Pedraza (Midfielder, Villareal) Pedraza was my reward from Underdog Limited in Game Week #312. Who sadly did not play Villareal’s soft European schedule. He does however perform pretty well in La Liga and earned me a solid return to fund my new purchases. I managed to get 0.0038 ETH for Pedraza which I’m pretty happy with.

Filip Stojkovic (Defender, LASK) Despite some reasonable scores, Stojkovics price hasn’t rebounded as I hoped it would. I have moved one copy one to add some funds, but I will hold the other for the time being. I made a minor profit of 0.0001 (+7.5%).

SO5 Performances
There’s not been too much to write home about on the SO5 front. I have mostly be entering Underdog and Kickoff with a mixture of the Oviedo stack and the rest of the European players in the gallery. I had one close call with the prizes in GW 319, with the Oviedo stack finishing 17 points from a card reward.

There have been big drop in gallery value has been driven mostly by huge drop for Jelle Bataille and Raphael Schifferl. Bataille had a terrible game against Standard Liege a few weeks back and was dropped to the bench for the next 3 games. He did return to the starting line-up at the weekend – so hopefully he can get back on track after the World Cup.
Schifferl hasn’t had the best last few game either with him conceding a penalty back in GW 316. His club, Wolfsberger, has also been disappointing over the last few weeks losing their last 5 games. Schifferl has at least kept his starting role, hopefully he and Wolfsberger can get back on track soon. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until February to see much progress with Austria heading on an extended Winter Break once the World Cup starts.
On the plus side my two Korean players seem to have bottomed out in price and might be starting to see the begins of a price rise. I think I will end up holding both for a little longer and hoping to see some growth as the new season draws closer.
The Real Oviedo stack has had mixed results, the team overall has had mixed results with 2 wins and a couple of losses since I bought. It’s gone well for the midfield duo of Sanchez and Montoro – they have both started through-out and maintained a small price increase.
Tarin and Enrich have been less impressive. Tarin has swapped between starting and being an unused substitute unfortunately for his scores he has missed both the Real Oviedo wins in which they kept clean sheets.
Enrich has been in and out of the starting line-up as well, but has at least made an appearance in every game. He came on to score the game winner against Granada in Oviedo’s last match, so hopefully that might earn him some more starts over the next few weeks.
I have definitely made mistakes over the last few weeks that have cost me a significant amount of ETH. Mostly, these mistakes have been holding onto players for too long and not taking the profits when I can.
Strategy Moving Forward
Moving forward, I need to reset my priorities to taking quick profits where I can and not waiting for a higher price I think the cards can reach. Right now that means I will be looking to move Luismi Sanchez and JM Montoro as soon as possible. With the intention of using the returns to buy further La Liga 2 players over the next week.
During the World Cup period I hope to move on the La Liga 2 players and begin targeting leagues who start back up in December. I won’t have much funds for Champion Europe players, so the focus will likely be on the Scottish and Belgian leagues.
