NFL DFS Week 8 Early Thoughts

I’m back to go through my favourite plays in the Bet365 Sunday Redzone competition. Teams consist of 9 players (1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, 1 DST) with a total budget of 135M, giving an average per player of 15M. My plays will generally lean towards the cheaper side to allow some stud players to be fitted into a line-up as well.

Quarterbacks
  • Kirk Cousins (14.2M) – Cousins hasn’t been a particularly explosive fantasy options so far this season, but he has had solid weeks in the right match-ups. This week projects to be one of these weeks with the Vikings getting an atrocious Arizona Cardinals pass defense.
Running Backs
  • Michael Carter (9.6M) – The Jets have added James Robinson this week after Breece Hall’s season ending injury, but for this week at least I think Michael Carter will be the lead back. He couldn’t get a better match-up against a Patriots run funnel defense that was just shredded by the Bears.
  • D’Onta Foreman (10.5M) – The Panthers face another terrible run defense in the Atlanta Falcons. With McCaffrey on the 49ers and Chuba Hubbard out with an ankle injury, D’Onta Foreman should handle the majority of carries in an offense that wants to hide their QB.
  • Tyler Allgeier (9.0M) – On the other side of the game the Falcons are also determined to run the ball as much as possible. Despite getting blown out by the Bengals last week they still only passed on 36% of plays. Allgeier doesn’t have much passing game upside, but he does see all the red-zone opportunities for the Falcons.
Wide Receivers
  • Chris Olave (14.1M) – With Landry and Michael Thomas set to miss another week for the Saints, Chris Olave will maintain his elite passing volume. Olave see’s plenty of deep targets and this week gets a Raiders defense that is haemorrhaging big plays.
  • Marquise Goodwin (8.2M) – Marquise Goodwin is line for increased opportunities this week as DK Metcalf looks set to miss the game. With Geno Smith playing surprisingly well at for the Seahawks, the speedster has the potential for a big game.
  • Wan’Dale Robinson (7.4M) – Robinson was in this column a couple of weeks ago and since has begun to establish himself as the lead receiver for the Giants. Last week he had a fantastic 27% target share, and has no credible threats to his role in the Giants WR room.
Tight Ends
  • Irv Smith Jr (9.2M) – The Cardinals offense has been shredded by Tight-Ends this season making Irv Smith Jr a great value option. Smith’s targets have been up and down this season, but the Cardinals are giving up 9 targets to tight ends among the most in the league.
Defence/Special Teams

There are couple of low priced defences that may be worth a punt if you need to save budget. But my favourite pick this week is the Cowboys (8.1M) who face the Chicago Bears this week. I expect they won’t give up many points and should be able to get some sacks against Justin Fields.
